In the Widget Tracking section, users can specify either a Google Analytics ID or a Google TagManager ID which will be inserted into every page in the widget.

This will allow users to monitor where visitors to their widget are coming from and which pages theyvisit, for example by using the Google Tag Manager application :

The Conversion Tracking section allows users to define Google Adwords, Facebook Pixel and/orTwitter Ad IDs which will automatically be inserted into the final, confirmation page of the widget.

This will allow users to monitor conversion statistics as shown in the sample data below from GoogleAdwords:

User Accessible Widget Tracking


The Widget Tracking tab can be accessed via Settings > Reservations > Widget Tracking 



Sign up using this link https://tagmanager.google.com


After the sign up you will receive your GTM code


Click OK.


At the top navigation panel, you'll see your GTM-XXXXXX container number. 


Copy this code.


Navigate to your Diary -> Settings > Reservations > Widget and Portal Tracking 


Select Tag Manager and paste in your GTM container number.




Click Save.


2. How to add Google Analytics Tracking into GTM?


In the Tag Manager, go to your container.


Navigate to Tags section.


Click New




Start by naming your tag any way you want.


Select Google Analytics


Select Universal Analytics and click continue.


It will ask you to input your Tracking ID. 


To get your Tracking ID, go to analytics.google.com -> select the account you want to track -> Admin -> Tracking Info -> Tracking Code.


Copy the UA-XXXXXX-XX code and paste it into Tag Manager Tracking ID field.


Click continue.


Select All Pages.


Click Create tag.



Make sure you click Publish at the top right side in order for these changes to take effect.



If you have done everything correctly, all the pageview data should be going to Google Analytics.

3. How to Add Cross-domain tracking?

Cross-domain tracking enables you to see the correct sources of your conversions. It is easy to set up and only takes a couple of minutes.


Whilst you are still on the Google Tag Manager tool, navigate to Tags -> click on the Google Analytics tag you just created -> you should see a window like so:

Click on Tag Configuration -> More Settings


On Fields to Set:

-add 'allowLinked' Field Name and set it to 'true' value.

-add 'cookieDomain' and set it to 'auto'.


On Cross-Domain Tracking:

-add widget.resdiary.com - this is the domain ResDiary widget is hosted on.

-add comma, and specify your website name. 


Once finished, it should look similar to this:

Save the Tag.


Make sure you click Publish at the top right side in order for these changes to take effect.


That is it. Your conversion sources should show up as they are supposed to on Google Analytics.
